THERAPY ISN’T ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL, AND NEITHER ARE THE REASONS YOU MAY BE LOOKING FOR SUPPORT.
You may want a space that is entirely your own. You may be trying to find your way back to your partner, make an important decision together, or repair something that has deeply affected your relationship. Your family may be moving through a transition or feeling caught in patterns that no longer work.
Or you may be here for something very different — a psychological evaluation related to an immigration or legal matter.
At AMĀAN, we offer different ways to work together depending on what you need.
SERVICES
-
Sometimes the thing that brings you to therapy is easy to name. Other times, you simply know you don’t feel like yourself.
Individual therapy gives us space to understand what you’re experiencing, the patterns and relationships that may be contributing to it, and what you want to feel different. We work with concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, identity, and the feeling of being stuck.
-
You can love each other deeply and still struggle to find your way back to one another.
Couples therapy can help when communication has become difficult, conflict keeps repeating, intimacy or connection has changed, trust has been damaged, or you’re facing a decision or transition you don’t know how to navigate together.
The goal isn’t simply to argue less. It’s to understand what keeps happening between you and begin building a relationship that works differently.
-
When something affects one person in a family, it rarely affects only that person.
Family therapy looks at the patterns, relationships, roles, and communication within the family as a whole. Rather than deciding who is “the problem,” we work to understand what everyone has become caught in and how the family can begin relating differently.
-
Some relationships need more than fifty minutes at a time.
Couples intensives create dedicated time to go deeper without having to stop just as you reach the heart of something important. They may be especially helpful when you’re navigating betrayal, a relationship in crisis, longstanding patterns, or work that feels too important or complex to spread across months of weekly sessions.
AMĀAN offers extended and multi-day options depending on what your relationship needs.
-
Premarital therapy isn’t only about preparing for problems. It’s an opportunity to understand the relationship you’re building before you build a life around it.
We explore communication, conflict, expectations, family, finances, intimacy, values, roles, and the patterns each of you brings into the relationship — while also strengthening what already works between you.
-
Immigration cases often involve experiences and relationships that are deeply personal.
We provide comprehensive psychological evaluations for select immigration matters, with time dedicated to understanding your history, experiences, emotional functioning, and the circumstances relevant to your case.
When appropriate and with your permission, we also coordinate with your attorney so the evaluation addresses the questions relevant to your legal matter.
-
Some legal matters require a different kind of psychological service — one focused on answering a specific referral question rather than providing therapy.
AMĀAN accepts select forensic evaluation matters within our areas of training and competence. Each referral is reviewed individually to determine whether we are the appropriate evaluator for the questions being asked.

COUPLES INTENSIVES
Sometimes fifty minutes at a time isn’t enough.
There are moments in a relationship when you need more than another conversation squeezed between work, children, dinner, and everything else competing for your attention.
A Couples Intensive gives you dedicated, uninterrupted time to step away from everyday life and focus fully on your relationship.
Some couples come during a crisis — after a betrayal, through a period of deep disconnection, or while facing an important decision about their future. Others are not in crisis at all. They may want to work through something that has lingered for years, reconnect, strengthen an already good relationship, or simply give their relationship the kind of focused attention that everyday life rarely allows.
WHY AN INTENSIVE?
Weekly couples therapy can be incredibly valuable. But sometimes fifty minutes ends just as you reach the conversation you actually needed to have.
An intensive gives us time to stay there.
We can slow down what happens between you, understand the patterns you keep getting pulled into, work through areas of hurt or disconnection, and practice having difficult conversations differently — with enough time to actually do the work.
For busy couples, it can also make practical sense. Rather than fitting therapy into your schedule week after week, you intentionally set aside focused time for your relationship.
WHAT YOUR INTENSIVE LOOKS LIKE
This isn’t a group retreat or a workshop with other couples.
The time is entirely yours.
Before we begin, we’ll take time to understand your relationship, your history, what is bringing you in, and what each of you hopes to accomplish.
That allows the intensive to be shaped around your relationship, rather than a predetermined agenda.
Over our time together, we’ll focus on where you’re getting stuck, the conversations that matter most, and what needs to change for you to move forward differently.
