IMMIGRATION PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

Your experiences deserve to be understood, not just documented.

Immigration matters often involve some of the most personal and difficult parts of someone's life.

You may be trying to explain the impact of past experiences, the emotional consequences of separation from loved ones, or the hardship your family could face if your circumstances were to change.

Putting those experiences into words isn't always easy, especially when they're connected to something as important as your future.

At AMĀAN, immigration psychological evaluations are designed to carefully document relevant mental health concerns while taking the time to understand the person and experiences behind them.

IMMIGRATION EVALUATIONS WE OFFER

We provide evaluations for a variety of immigration matters, including, but not limited to:

  • Extreme Hardship Waivers (I-601 / I-601A): Evaluating the emotional and psychological impact that separation or relocation may have on qualifying family members.

  • Asylum (I-589): Documenting the psychological impact of persecution, trauma, and other relevant experiences.

  • VAWA Petitions: Assessing the emotional and psychological effects of abuse within qualifying relationships.

  • U Visas: Evaluating the psychological impact of qualifying criminal victimization.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Understanding Your Case

We'll begin by learning about your immigration matter, the type of evaluation requested, and any relevant deadlines. With your permission, we can also communicate directly with your attorney to understand the referral questions.

2. Your Evaluation

Your evaluation will include a comprehensive clinical interview to better understand your background, experiences, relationships, and emotional functioning.

As part of the evaluation, standardized assessments are used to evaluate symptoms associated with:

  • Depression

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

These assessments, together with your clinical interview and relevant records, help us understand how your experiences may have affected your mental health.

You don't need to know how to explain everything perfectly. We'll take the time to ask questions and understand your experiences.

3. Your Report

Following the evaluation, a detailed written report is prepared documenting relevant clinical findings, assessment results, and the psychological impact of your experiences as supported by the evaluation.

With your authorization, we can coordinate with your attorney regarding the completed report.

Language & Interpreter Services

Evaluations are available in English and Arabic.

AMĀAN also partners with professional interpreters to accommodate clients who speak other languages. We can help coordinate these services so you can participate in your evaluation in a language you're comfortable with.

TURNAROUND TIME & PAYMENT OPTIONS

We understand that immigration matters often involve important deadlines and financial considerations.

Report Turnaround

Reports are generally completed within 2 to 3 weeks once the evaluation, required documentation, and payment requirements are completed.

Rush Processing

Expedited report preparation may be available upon request, depending on your deadline and availability.

Payment Plans

Flexible payment plans are available to help make the evaluation process more manageable.

We'll discuss the timeline, payment arrangements, and next steps before scheduling.

A THOUGHTFUL AND THOROUGH APPROACH

Some experiences can be difficult to discuss, particularly when they involve trauma, abuse, family separation, or significant loss.

Our approach is respectful, trauma-informed, and attentive to the cultural, personal, and family circumstances that may shape your experience.

The purpose of the evaluation is to provide an independent, clinically grounded assessment that accurately reflects the information gathered. An evaluation does not guarantee a particular diagnosis or immigration outcome.

IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL EVALUATIONS

Evaluations are available in person at our Newtown, Pennsylvania office and virtually for eligible clients in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

We'll help determine the appropriate format based on your location and case requirements.
